I am/not an Island

Plucking pebbles on city beaches and solitary rambles over bridges of hope.

Throwing shapes with friends and uniting with our unknown others.

Dreaming big dreams and crossing rivers of though to get from here to there.

Atelier Ellis composes I am/not an Island: Twelve urbane new colours connecting people and place.

Plucking pebbles on city beaches and solitary rambles over bridges of hope. Throwing shapes with friends and uniting with our unknown others, dreaming big dreams and crossing rivers of thought to get from here to there.

This spring, Atelier Ellis, makers of beautiful, breathable bio-based paint, releases a collection of twelve urbis colours including a new neutral family of five.

With London and its river as her muse, Cassandra Ellis, colourist and founder of Atelier Ellis, has dreamt up a palette that harnesses the power of connection, people and place.

An assemblage of colours celebrating unique points of view, the beautiful city of London and its river of dreams. It is a collection rich with rare but valuable colours; from a new family of joyful neutrals through to perfect olive greens and sophisticated reds. Highlights include Is-land – a sunlit olive green, and Lundenwick – our love colour to London. Rich, bruised, regal, rousing and humble.

“Returning to London, both personally and with our business, gave me a rare fresh glimpse into this extraordinary city. The river connecting suburbs and people, bridges crossing time and ways of living. It is a rich and warm life here. These new colours celebrate all that is best of, and in, this city. It is my favourite collection yet.”

Cassandra Ellis, Founder of Atelier Ellis.

The colours are shaped by Thames ‘beaches’, adventures in mud larking, watery tales, the perfect London sky and the deep, deep history of city streets. These are colours to ground, hold and move you.

The Colours

Is-land – Sunlit olive green. Splendid in tone, plentiful in use.

Fletton – The very best brick colour. An exceptionally useful faded red.

The River Runs - A mutable, watery river green with weight. Soft enough for everyone, deep enough for everywhere.

Lundenwick – Our love colour to London. Rich, bruised, regal, rousing and humble.

They Rise Up – The very first soft colour in the city. Pale, perfect yellow.

Emily – The very best deep and kind green.

I Went Outside – Urban spring skies. An uplifting blue with umber and yellow ochre for warmth.

Pluck – Plucking pebbles on city beaches, a smooth and valuable ochre tan.

The Hello family (Hi!, Hello, How Are You?, I Love You) - Our gentle, soft white family, Umber, red and yellow ochre create an incredibly useful palette of joyful neutrals.

The I am/not an Island palette launches on April 1st 2026 and is available to view and order online or in our London studio.
