FAQs

  • Our mineral water-based Stains can be used on any hard, porous surface including wood, stone, concrete and plaster. 

  • Our water-based Stains are designed for unfinished surfaces only. It cannot be used on previously finished surfaces including oiled and painted surfaces or on flexible materials including plastic, fabric and other non-porous surfaces.

  • We recommend you use two coats for durability.

    One coloured coat will offer a lighter shade, whereas a second coat of the same colour will provide a fully saturated hue.

    If you achieve the colour you require with the first coat, use our clear stain Self Portrait for the second coat to ensure a robust finish.

  • For interior use on unfinished woods and other absorbent, hard surfaces.

    Clean and prepare the surface. Apply in the direction of the grain, keeping a wet edge to avoid lapping. Finely sand in between coats in case of grain raising. Recoat after 2 hours or when fully dry. For more detail, read our full Product & Application guide.

  • UK mainland: orders received before 12pm Monday-Friday will be dispatched within 48-72 hours. Next day, pre-12pm and Saturday or Sunday deliveries are available for an extra charge.

    Returns: unfortunately, we do not accept returns or exchanges as all our paint is tinted to order. We recommend you order a sample before committing to a colour so you see how it looks in your home.
